Project Life Weeks 10 and 11

A brief moment of being behind with my PL last week after being away but a sigh of relief as I am up to date now! I need to keep up to date as I don’t think it would take much for me to start slipping behind. That’s just how I like to do it

Week 10 was our PLA Getaway which featured in my last blog post about the daybook I put together.

After a rocky start to the week with a grim couple of days of work and weather we hit the road heading south. As well as the daybook I made a little collage of the weekend and added it as an insert to week 10.

The second half of the week was more about our trip away.

I used the different coloured pens as I wrote the journalling while I was away and I had some new pens to try out. Just a bit of a change and wholly appropriate for a holiday week!

Week 11 was back to reality with a bump. The trip home seemed to take much longer than the trip down and then I was back to work first thing on Wednesday morning.

The word ‘ugh’ just summed it up really!

Then on thursday I had the most wonderful random act of kindness happen to me and all was good with the world again!

We had a great weekend – our beautiful friend Jackie came to visit on Friday night and lifted the bar in terms of bedtime stories! Flynnie has high expectations now!

While I was away Flynnie and Neal watched a TV show about scuba diving and Flynnie has been obsessed ever since and asking for his own set of ‘diving equipment’! His two scuba diving parents are of course thrilled about the interest We started him off with fins and a mask and he took to them straight away – managing fine in the water despite the fact that technically he can’t swim yet!

Week 31 – where is this year going? I am already starting to think about Christmas and December Daily! I need to be so organised this year because work is so crazy and I need to have things prepared ahead of time!

This week we started to get a little consumed by the Olympics. Flynnie and Sawyer have had a lot of activities at daycare and swimming school and we have enjoyed catching bits and pieces on the TV too.

The Mumford & Sons quote is from Ali Edwards – I love her handwriting so much!

Lots of action in the second half of the week! Flynnie had a song written for him by his most favourite musician. It is all about him and his love for Thomas the Tank Engine. He loves it and we listen to it all the time. Thanks so much Richard

They made such an effort for Olympic week at the boys’ swimming school. The pool was decorated, the teachers were dressed up, and at the end of each lesson they played ‘Advance Australia Fair’ and the kids got medals. It was great!

The big event for the week was Flynnie’s birthday party on Sunday. We had it at a local park and invited all the children from his class at daycare and outside friends too. It was exhausting but fun and Flynnie really enjoyed it!

I used a couple of the new Becky Higgins page protectors for inserts this week.Firstly a 5×7 for some of Sawyer’s olympic craft:

The top of his olympic flame sticks out but I quite like it like that!

Project Life Week 23 – the instagrams!

As I mentioned a couple of days ago, I took a lot of instagram pictures while we were camping and hadn’t decided how to incorporate them into my project life. I thought of doing a mosaic like the one I do at the end of each month (see here) but I wanted to put little captions with the pictures so that wasn’t going to work.

In the end I decided on using baseball card page protectors from We R Memory Keepers and cutting down Becky Higgins grid journalling cards to fit the pockets. The grids are printed on the front and back which meant I only needed one card for each pocket.

I like how it has turned out:
